“How to change your life” is a must question that you would be asking if you had been following this blog. Meaning that, you want to keep on growing and evolving through a lifelong learning. I mean, you going to need to become a better person than you are yesterday if you want to be successful. And everyday is a good day to discover and learn new things so that we can become better and better. But the most important thing would be the ACTION. Do you practice and put all the knowledge into actions? or Not?
On the other hand, changing our life is not an easy things to do. I had been there and I already experience it. Although i am no where near highly successful but I know how it feels when you choose to take action and make a decision to change your life. That is all what it takes to make the first move towards life changing experiences.
Now i am practicing what i know and I want to share it with you guys. I found it especially exhilarating changing my lifestyle, avoiding the masses ( fight mediocrity) and getting out of my comfort zones. I believe in it and I had compile it into 5 simple steps into how to change your life forever. But only if you took action with it. Read on my friends.
Identify your story then change it.
First, you have to know where are you right now and what kind of story you are telling yourself. Are you keep selling yourself short? Are keep on telling yourself you don’t have the courage or money to pursue your dreams? and some other stories which was based on negativity. Is that it?
If yes, then you just found out your main problem for not having the life that you had always wanted. Why? Because you did not believe in yourself that you can do it. The story is the prove.
Then, after you recognize it, it is time to change the story into a positive one which is telling yourself a new story about how great you already are. For example, keep telling yourself that you can do it. As simple as that. To spice it up, add your story with emotions because according to Think and Grow Rich, without emotions our story become worthless because our subconscious will not believe it.
But why? This is because neuroscience had confirmed that our subconscious shapes your reality. Remember this quote , “We can change our lives. We can do, have, and be exactly what we wish.” You just to believe in yourself first.
Get real and be reasonable.
Be honest with yourself and take baby steps. Do not change your life too drastically because you will be worn out pretty fast. Especially like every other New Year Resolution guy who failed almost every year. Then, probably you would tend to get back to your old habits which is not helping much in your life.
For example, if you want to create a reading or a running habits. You can start by reading book for at least five minutes a day and walk outside for about 20-25 minutes. You don’t have to force yourself and going all out on the first day. No matter how motivated or pumped up you felt. It takes time to change and don’t worry you will get there eventually. Treat the how to change your life steps like a marathon not a 100 meter dash.
Learn from the best.
In other words, it is called modelling. One of the best way is by mentoring with successful coaches or reading books about how the highly successful people do it. So that you can learn and be like them too . As Tony Robbins had said so many time is his coaching sessions, that “If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you’ll achieve the same results.“.
Also, with this modelling technique, you can cut years of learning by trial an error based on experiment. There are no other problem that you are facing that someone has not already face it and wrote it in a books.
For instance, if you want to learn investing like like Warren Buffet, you can read The Essays of Warren Buffett: Lessons for Corporate America, Fourth Edition. If you want to learn how to build a great eCommerce company like Jeff Bezos you can read The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon.
Reading is one of the best way to improve you life since it change my life forever when i started to read. Probably you too. So if you not a reader, find a book that you like and read it until it become your habit. Before i end this point, who is your role model?
Have faith that it is all going to work out in the end. There is exactly no one said that the highly successful people knows exactly that they were going to be a billionaires. What they did know is they wont quit unless their dreams come true and all if it happens mostly through a hard journey. But, they believe in their hard work and they believe in their commitment. Therefore, you should too!
In fact, according to Jeff Bezos inside the everything store, each time he presented his business plan to the future investor. He would end the presentation by stating that the failure rate for his company would be at around 70%. If you are an investor, that is consider very high and not a good investment. But, he still believe he can do it and now he is the second richest man in the world. High risk equals high profits.
Yes, after you complete a few goals no matter how big or small it is. If it is in your list of goals to achieve, then go out and rewards yourself . For example, you can go out to a fancy restaurant, take your family out for a weekends and so on. Treat yourself something that you like after completed a to do list goals is great way to motivate yourself. And this is how you train yourself to become a goal oriented person. Technically, this is also how you train your dogs but who cares if it works for you too right. I don’t mind at all.
